The map shows public facilities located in green areas under the city’s ownership. With regard to the functions performed, these facilities can be divided into those dedicated to physical activity (e.g., sports fields, courts, skate parks), aesthetics (e.g., fountains, flower beds, sculptures), social life (e.g., barbecue areas, toilets), play (e.g., playgrounds, sledding infrastructure) and nature itself (natural monuments). In addition, for the selected green areas, their characteristics indicated in the 2014 survey on the importance of green areas for the residents of Lodz, conducted by the Sendzimir Foundation, are summarized. When you click on a polygon of a green area, its characteristics (e.g. quietness, terrain, presence of animals) will be displayed, as well as cyclical sports and entertainment events that take place in it.
The map was prepared with the cooperation of Piotr Czembrowski, Edyta Łaszkiewicz and Jakub Kronenberg from the Department of Socio-Ecological Systems Analysis at the University of Lodz, based on data provided by the Board of Urban Greenery, the Lodz Geodesy Center, the Urban Planning Laboratory, the Municipal Sports and Recreation Center, the Department of Municipal Economy of the City of Lodz and the National Heritage Institute.
